Grégoire started the Domaine in 2007 and has been working organically from the beginning. He’s based in Dordogne (the land of truffles and foie gras) in the village of Villefranche-de-Lonchat, which is only a dozen miles from the village of Saint-Émilion. It’s a little higher up than St. Émilion, and more forested.
The domaine is 8 hectares. In 2020, he planted a small amount of Riesling, Pineau d’Aunis, Syrah, and Sauvignon Blanc. His domaine mainly consists of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a small amount of Sémillon. He also is a big proponent of agroforestry, and planted 1000 (mainly fruit) trees near his young vines a few years ago.
His wines are neither fined nor filtered, and if he adds sulfites to his wines (which he typically does not), it’s rarely more than 10 ppm and only at bottling. Most of the aging is done in oak (demi-muids or foudre).
